January-June 2009
These started out as the aluminum drop-tanks on a F-86 Sabre Jet fighter plane. I aquired them and was unsure what I was going to do with them. For some reason I thought to make a shark out of one and I ended up making a few more.

Drop-Tank Sharks

Shark #1
This tank is all aluminum and I used scrap sheets of aluminum plate to make the fins and patch panels. I didn't polish this one as much as I did the others. This one is also much heavier as I left the bulkheads intact inside the tank/shark.I didn't get any photographs of the 2nd shark being made.

Shark #3 and #4
I took a different approach to these 2 which required much more work. First I took them apart and removed the bulkheads and fuel lines before reassembling the two halves. I made the fins more 3 dimensional and rounded which required quite a bit of welding and grinding. I also spent much more time sanding and polishing to get the aluminum to a near chrome finish.
